International Community of Sunderland (ICOS) is seeking to employ an enthusiastic and proactive Learning and Sharing Officer to ensure successful delivery our exciting three-year Community Fund supported “Back in Control” Project.

LEARNING AND SHARING OFFICER – “BACK IN CONTROL” Project

Salary: £21,074 (8 hrs, SCP band 21, pro-rata): £4214.8

Hours: 8 hours per week (flexible)

Contract Type:  fixed term – 15/07/2019 until 15/06/2022

Location: ICOS, 14 Foyle Street, Sunderland, SR1 1LE

Reporting to: Development and Services Manager

Liaison with: Project evaluator (self-employed)

 

 

The project is focused on the vital support of Black and Minority Ethnic victims of modern slavery and workplace exploitation in the City. It will provide reliable and proactive support, advice and guidance in a variety of areas including challenging issues around housing, employment and the rights of individuals and family access to welfare.

You will engage with vulnerable clients and empower them, enabling them to tell their stories and influence the shape of the project.

You will engage with and collaborate with local organisations and partners across all sectors, sharing the learning captured during the project.

You will design and deliver training to local organisations across all sectors.

Applicants should be able to evidence experience of community engagement, learning and knowledge – exchange activities.  You should have excellent communication skills. With excellent IT skills, you should have a deep understanding and a demonstrable commitment to reducing modern slavery and workplace exploitation.

Applicants should be empathetic and have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills as well as a deep understanding of the challenges facing the BME community of Sunderland. Excellent IT and presentation skills and experience are also required.

As an integral and vital part of the ICOS team you will be responsible for working closely with the project manager and the external evaluator.
