Meet Your Neighbour Festival Sunderland

Tell us more about your show at Meet Your Neighbour Festival and why we should be there?

I'm very happy to perform in Sunderland. I still hold a great memory of my performance in Newcastle a few years ago - where I met Daniel Krzyszczak, one of the organisers of Meet Your Neighbour Festival. We kept in touch and I'm feeling honoured he invited me over with my band.
I have just released a new album that features Poland's top musicians and I want to share it with the audiences around the world. My music is often featured on radio shows worldwide.

One of the greatest polish radio and tv journalists Marek Niedźwiecki wrote this note about my work:"Beautiful, delicate, addictive, I can't get this music out of my head". I recorded with Basia Trzetrzelewska, Anna Jurksztowicz, Dorota Miśkiewicz, Krzysztof Napiórkowski, Michał Tokaj, Michał Barański and Łukasz Żyta - you might not know these polish stars but if you like the music of ‪Norah Jones, Eva Cassidy and Joni Mitchel‬ - you should enjoy our multi-cultural set. ‬

What are you going to sing for us?

I have recorded three albums with original music so far and I will sing a selection of songs from those. I sing in there languages: english, polish and french, and I hope that the mix of different musical and cultural influences will go down well at your Festival.

Are you coming with your band or are you going to sing by your own?

I will have my wonderful band with me: Matt Chandler on guitar, Tim Fairhall on double bass and Adam Texeira on drums.

I would like to talk about you for a while, when did your interest in music start?

My parents always listened to the radio, they both had their respective musical experiences when they were very young: mum did some singing and dad played the guitar. Although they stopped doing music when they grew up, I think it still was a big part of their lives when I was a child. I remember they particularly loved ‪ABBA‬ at some point as they listened to it a lot! ‬

And then my older brother started listening to rock - all his favourite bands soon became mine: The Police and the polish bands such as Lady Pank, Maanam, Bajm and Lombard.

I sung in a choir as a child and I learned classical guitar in my teens. The guitar experience is now very helpful with my song-writing.

At high school I discovered The Doors, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and many more rock and pop bands - I was playing classical guitar and learning how to play the famous guitar part in the song called "Stairway to Heaven"
